In 2020, founder Eric Strickland Jr. saw the growing impact of homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic. With a heart for his community, he began creating blessing bags—filled with toiletries, socks, and snacks—to hand out to those in need. What started with a handful of supplies purchased from his own pocket quickly grew into something much bigger. After sharing his efforts with friends and family, donations began to pour in—first a few extra toothbrushes and canned goods, then boxes of clothing, blankets, and handwritten notes of encouragement. Eric spent his evenings assembling bags at his kitchen table and his weekends walking city streets, building relationships with the very people he served.
As he listened to their stories, he realized that many needed more than just supplies—they needed consistent support, connection, and someone who genuinely cared. That realization became the foundation of Hands of God Serving. What began as a simple act of kindness transformed into an organized outreach effort, partnering with local churches, small businesses, and volunteers who shared the same vision: to serve with compassion, restore dignity, and remind every person that they are not forgotten. Today, Hands of God Serving continues to grow, rooted in the belief that even the smallest act of love can spark lasting change.
Every person carries dignity. Every story matters. Every act of kindness — no matter how small — can ripple into transformation.
We meet people where they are and walk with them toward where they're going.
